MerchantMoe — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about MerchantMoe, the leading decentralized exchange on Mantle Network. Browse the answers below or visit our documentation for deeper guides.

MerchantMoe is a decentralized exchange (DEX) built natively on the Mantle Network, a leading Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain. It enables users to swap tokens, provide liquidity, stake assets, and participate in governance — all in a non-custodial environment where you always control your funds.

At its core, MerchantMoe uses an Automated Market Maker (AMM) model enhanced by Liquidity Book technology. Instead of a traditional order book, trades are settled against liquidity pools contributed by users. The protocol rewards liquidity providers with a share of trading fees and MOE token incentives.

Key components of MerchantMoe:

  • Trade — Swap any supported token pair with low fees and minimal slippage.
  • Pool — Deposit token pairs to earn a share of trading fees.
  • Farm — Stake LP tokens to earn additional MOE rewards.
  • Stake — Lock MOE tokens to receive sMOE and earn protocol revenue.
  • Vote — Direct farm emissions by voting with sMOE.

Getting started with MerchantMoe is straightforward. Follow these steps:

  • Step 1 — Set up a wallet. Install a Web3 wallet such as MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, or any WalletConnect-compatible wallet on your browser or mobile device.
  • Step 2 — Add Mantle Network. Configure your wallet to connect to the Mantle Network (Chain ID: 5000). You can do this automatically through the MerchantMoe interface when you first connect.
  • Step 3 — Bridge assets. Transfer tokens from Ethereum mainnet or another chain to Mantle using the official Mantle Bridge or a supported cross-chain bridge.
  • Step 4 — Connect to MerchantMoe. Visit the MerchantMoe app, click "Sign In", and approve the wallet connection.
  • Step 5 — Trade. Navigate to the Trade section, select your token pair, enter an amount, review the transaction details, and confirm the swap.

Always ensure you have a small amount of MNT (Mantle's native gas token) in your wallet to pay for transaction fees.

MOE is the native governance and utility token of the MerchantMoe protocol. It plays a central role across the entire ecosystem:

  • Staking rewards. Stake MOE to receive sMOE (staked MOE), which entitles you to a share of protocol trading fee revenue.
  • Farm emissions. MOE tokens are distributed as additional incentives to liquidity providers who stake their LP tokens in active farms.
  • Governance voting. sMOE holders can vote on which liquidity pools receive MOE emissions in the next epoch, giving the community direct influence over liquidity incentives.
  • Ecosystem growth. MOE is used for partnerships, ecosystem grants, and community initiatives that expand MerchantMoe's reach on Mantle Network.

You can track MOE price and market data on CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap.

MerchantMoe uses the Liquidity Book AMM model, which offers several advantages over traditional constant-product AMMs. Liquidity is organised into discrete price bins, allowing providers to concentrate capital in specific price ranges for improved capital efficiency.

Here is how to provide liquidity:

  • Go to the Pool section and select a token pair you want to support.
  • Choose a liquidity strategy: uniform distribution, curve, or custom bin placement.
  • Deposit equal-value amounts of both tokens (or a single token if adding to an existing range).
  • Receive LP tokens representing your share of the pool.
  • Optionally, stake your LP tokens in a Farm to earn extra MOE rewards on top of trading fees.

Be aware of impermanent loss — a potential reduction in value compared to simply holding the tokens, which can occur when prices diverge significantly. Concentrated liquidity can amplify both fee earnings and impermanent loss.

MerchantMoe takes security seriously and implements multiple layers of protection for user funds:

  • Smart contract audits. All core protocol contracts have been independently audited by reputable blockchain security firms. Audit reports are publicly available in the documentation.
  • Non-custodial design. MerchantMoe is fully non-custodial — the protocol never holds your assets. All funds remain in audited smart contracts that you interact with directly through your wallet.
  • Open-source code. The smart contracts are open-source and available on GitHub for community review.
  • Mantle Network security. As a Mantle L2 application, MerchantMoe benefits from the security properties of Ethereum settlement and Mantle's optimistic rollup architecture.
  • Bug bounty. The team encourages responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities through its bug bounty programme.

No DeFi protocol is entirely risk-free. Always do your own research, never invest more than you can afford to lose, and be cautious of phishing sites. Always verify you are visiting the official MerchantMoe domain.

MerchantMoe employs a dynamic fee model through the Liquidity Book protocol. Fees vary by pool type and market conditions:

  • Standard pools — typically charge between 0.05% and 0.30% per swap, depending on the volatility profile of the pair.
  • Stable pairs — lower fees (e.g. 0.01%–0.05%) for pairs with tightly correlated prices such as stablecoin pairs.
  • Dynamic fees — the Liquidity Book model can automatically adjust fees upwards during high-volatility periods to compensate liquidity providers for increased impermanent loss risk.

A portion of collected trading fees is distributed to liquidity providers, and part may flow to MOE stakers via the protocol fee mechanism. Detailed fee structures for each pool are displayed in the Pool section of the MerchantMoe interface. Gas fees (paid in MNT) are minimal thanks to Mantle Network's low-cost execution environment.

MerchantMoe has a staking and governance system built around the sMOE token:

  • Staking MOE. Deposit MOE tokens into the Stake module to receive sMOE in return. sMOE represents your proportional share of the staking pool and accrues protocol revenue over time.
  • Earning rewards. A share of MerchantMoe's trading fee revenue is periodically distributed to the staking pool. sMOE holders receive these rewards automatically — there is no need to manually claim in most cases.
  • Voting on emissions. sMOE holders can cast votes each epoch to direct which liquidity farms receive MOE token emissions. Pools with more votes attract more emissions, incentivising deeper liquidity.
  • Unstaking. You can unstake your MOE at any time, subject to the current protocol terms. Always check the interface for any cooldown or unbonding periods that may apply.

Participating in governance helps shape the future of MerchantMoe and ensures that liquidity incentives align with community priorities on Mantle Network.
